    Period One

    Topic: Why do you like …?

    Structures: Why do you like koalas? Because they are very kind of cute.

    Task: Talk about your favorite animal.

    Culture: Know something about the animals in the world.

    Vocabulary:

    Animal: koala, elephant, dolphin, lion, tiger, panda, dog, penguin, very, kind of , cute

    Grammar:

    Why do you like koalas? Because they are very/kind of cute.

    Abilities: Students can ask and talk about the animals they like

    Emotion: Talk about animals, understand animals, love them and enjoy life

    Important points: The names of the animals and some adjectives

    Difficult points: Plurals

    Teaching steps:

    Step 1 Revision

    Do you like …?  And some adjectives:

    (1)   Chant: Do you like fruit?

    (2)   Talk about the movies.

    T: I like the comedies. Do you like the comedies?

    S: Yes, I do.

    T: why?

    S: Because they’re funny.

    Step 2: Revision

    Look at the animals . What is this? It is a lion. dog, pig, monkey, chicken, fox, cat. Ask students to describe each animal in some way. They may tell its color or tell if it is big or small.

    Step 3 Presentation

    1.Focus attention on the map of the zoo showing pictures of animals. Ask students to point to and name any animals they can.

    2.Point to the animals one by one and say the name of each. Ask students to repeat.

    3.Point out the numbered list of words in 1a.Say each one and ask students to repeat.

    Step3Listening

    1b Listen and check the animals in 1a you hear .

    2a Listen .

    1.Write the animals you hear.

    2.Draw a line from the animals to the description words.

    1.Please write a word from the box on each blank line. Some words can be used more than one time.

    2.Play the recording. Check to see that students are writing a word from the box on each line of the conversation.

    Step4 Practice

    1.Point out the four description words in 1c . Ask a student to read them aloud. Review the meaning of each word.

    2.Ask students to work in pairs. Use these description words. Have them take turns saying both parts.

    If students need help getting started, demonstrate another conversation with a student. For example:

      Teacher: Let's see the elephants.

      Student: Why do you want to see the elephants ?

      Teacher: Because they’re very smart.

     Ask some students to present their conversations to the class.

    Step 5Make a survey

    How many students like the kind of animal?

    Step 6  Homework

    Copy the new words .

     

    Design:

    Unit3 Why do you like koalas?

    Student: Do you like penguins?

    Teacher: Yes, I do.

    Student: Why?

    Teacher: Because they’re very cute.

     

     

     

    Period  Two

    Task: Talk about the rare animals.

    Culture: Know something about your friends/parents

    Vocabulary: Australia  South Africa ugly  friendly  shy  clever Grammar:Where are you /they from?

    Where is he /she/it from?

    What animal do you like?

    What other animals do you like

    Step 1Revision

    What animals do you like ? Why ?

    Step2 Presentation

    1.Show the pictures of some famous people .

    A:I like …

    B: Why do you like him / her?

    A: Because he/ she is very/kind of …

    Practice with these adjectives: friendly  shy  ugly  cute  beautiful  smart  clever

    Talk about your family members and classmates.

    Step3 Practice

    Ask about your partner’s favorite animals in pairs .

    A: Do you want to see lions?

    B: Yes , I do .

    A: Why ?

    B: Because they’re cute.

    Step 4  3a 3b

    3a match the animals with the countries

    1.Point to and say the names of the three countries on the maps and ask students to repeat.

    2.Draw a line between each animal and the country it comes from.

    3b  Pairwork

    1.Point to the conversation in the picture. Ask a pair of students to read it to the class.

    2.Ask students to work in pairs. Point to the map and animals students matched up in 3a.

    Step 5 Game

    Demonstrate how to play the game. Call out one of the words. Guide the students who have this word on their Bingo board to place a marker on the word.

    Step 6Homework

    Write the report of the interview about the animals .

    Period Three

    Step1 Revision

    Talk about a kind of animal you like and why .

    Step 2 Presentation

    Point out the list of eight numbered adjectives at the top.

    Match the adjectives at the top with the animals in the picture. Write the letter of the animal on the line after the adjective. Point out the sample answer.

    Step 3 Listening

    2a  Listen and circle the description words you here in activiy1.

    2b  Listen  again. Fill in the chart.

    Call attention to the three headings. Animal, Maria's Words and Tony's Words, and the write-on lines under each. Write the name of the animals each person talks about and the words they say.

    Step 4 Practice

    1.Call attention to the dialogue next to the picture. Ask two students to read it to the class.

    2.Demonstrate the activity with one or two students. For example, say, I like dolphins. They're intelligent.

    3.Ask students to work in pairs.

    Talk about the animals you know.

    A:What animals do you like?

    B:  I like elephants.  They are cute.

    A:  What other animals do you like?

    B:  I like dogs, too.

    A: Why?

    B: Because they’re friendly and clever

    Step 5 Homework

    Make a conversation to talk about the animals students like and why .

     

     

    Period  Four

    Teaching procedures:

    Step 1 Greetings and duty report .

    Step 2 Revision

    Step 3 Presentation

    Discuss about the rare animals in the word and where they live.

    3a   Put the animals in the map.

    Ask a student to read the instruction and translate it .Make sure all the students understand the task .Have them read the passages loudly by themselves .After a while ask

    three students to read the passages and other students translate .some of them will correct their mistakes ..

    3b  Look the lion in 3a. Then complete the description with the words in the box.

    Step4 Writing Practice:

    Write the animals that you like

    Step 5 Group work

    I divide them into 10 groups , there ask 4 persons in a group .Let them talk about the animals in groups and then I will ask some pairs to present their conversations like the example above .

    Step 6 Homework

    Write a passage to describe the animals that you like . ( Words: 50 – 80 )
